Q:If the water is shut off with FLO n STOP, will the water in our hot water heater (HWH) evaporate since it is no longer being supplied with water? A:The Hot Water Heater tank is a sealed unit; therefore there is very little water evaporation from the tank.The tank should remain almost full of water at all times.
Q:What if our hot water heater (HWH) leaks while the FLO n STOPsystem is activated? A:If your hot water heater leaks, only the water in the HWH will leak out.The HWH will no longer have an endless supply of water that could possibly leak hundreds of gallons of water into your residence. The FLO n STOP system will have shut off the water supply to the HWH, along with the rest of the residence.
Q:If the hot water heater leaks, how will it affect the heating elements in the hot water heater? A:If the hot water heater leaks usually due to tank corrosion, the elements will harmlessly destroy themselves. In any event, a leaking hot water heater will need be replaced.
Q:Is there ANY WAY we can avoid having our hot water heater leak while we are away? A:To totally prevent the possibility of leakage from your hot water heater, activate FLO n STOP to the “OFF” position, shut off electric power to the hot water heater, and then drain the hot water heater tank.This is an extreme measure not often employed. Q:What happens if there is a loss of power to our home for a long duration of time? A:In the event of the loss of electrical power to your residence, the FLO n STOP system will automatically shut off the water.To restore water flow, simply turn the manual valve 90° located on the FLO n STOP Solenoid Valve, then water flow will be restored.(Be sure to return the manual valve to the “CLOSED” position when power is restored.Otherwise the remote feature will not be in effect and your water will remain on.)
Q:What happens if there is a momentary loss of power to our home? A:In the event of a momentary loss of electrical power to your residence, the FLO n STOP system will automatically shut off the water.To restore water flow, simply press the “ON” button on the Button Pad.
